This page explains what information is needed to run Audiobook Library, how your audiobook library is handled, and how you can leave with your files and backups.

What this service stores

This service stores the information needed to create and run your private Audiobookshelf library: your account details, subscription status, assigned library URL, uploaded audiobook files, Audiobookshelf metadata, users, settings, listening progress, and backups.

Your audiobook files

Your audiobook files are used to provide your private library. They are not sold, shared, used for training, or mixed with anyone else's library. I only access customer files when needed to operate the service, troubleshoot a problem, handle a support request, or comply with a legal requirement.

Backups and export

Your Audiobookshelf data is backed up every 2 hours. Backups can be downloaded freely, and your audiobook files remain yours. The goal is no lock-in: if you want to leave, self-host, or move somewhere else, your library data should not be trapped.

Billing and account providers

Payments are handled by Stripe, and account access is handled by Clerk. Those providers receive the information needed to process payments, manage login, and keep your subscription connected to your account. Card details are handled by Stripe, not by this service directly.

Contact messages

If you contact me for support, I receive the details you send, such as your name, email address, and message. I use that information to reply and resolve the issue.

Cancellation and retention

If you cancel, your subscription stops renewing. I keep the instance available for 7 days after cancellation so you have time to export your files and backups. After that period, the instance and hosted library data is removed.

No selling of personal data

I do not sell your personal data. I do not sell access to your library. This is private audiobook hosting for files you bring yourself.
